Choosing a therapist is an important step. While location and cost matter, feedback tells me what is valued most is a therapist who is experienced, resilient, one who is able to align with you, but also to sensitively challenge.
People come to see me for different reasons. Worries about relationships, behaviours that are causing a problem, loss and bereavement, depression, anxiety, or obsessive thoughts. Sometimes things just don’t feel right.
I work as a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist because my own experiences show therapy to be a valuable journey that can bring about lasting change for people. I completed an inspiring and thorough four-year professional clinical training with one of the UK's leading psychodynamic organisations - WPF therapy, and have many years experience in the profession. My previous career was in senior management roles.
The next page explains a bit more, but I use the term therapy here to include various ways of working. As well as counselling and psychotherapy, I offer trauma specific treatments such as EMDR, trauma-focused counselling, and psychological debriefing.
